Sub-Merged Arc Melting Furnace Transformers

Product Overview

Capacity: 12.5MVA to 30MVA of voltage class up to 33KV

Makpower introduces the Submerged Arc Melting Furnace Transformers with 3-phase systems and a bank of three single-phase transformers for higher capacities.

Three Phase Units
• Our three-phase units are available in three ways.
• Tap windings are in series with main HT windings in one core frame and in one tank with OLTC.
• Tab windings are separated through an autotransformer in addition to the main transformer, but both transformers are in one common tank.
• Tap windings are through an autotransformer in a separate tank with OLTC, and the main transformer is in another tank.
Single Phase Units
• Three single-phase units have Tap windings in series with main HT windings in one core frame and in one tank with OLTC.
• Three single-phase units each consist of separate Tap winding through the Auto Transformer in addition to the main transformer and in one tank with OLTC.
• Three single-phase units, each unit consisting of only a main transformer. The OLTC & three-phase autotransformer shall be in a separate tank.

Technical Specifications

• The three-phase system is compatible with up to 15MVA, and the single-phased transformers can be higher than 15MVA.
• Three-phase units provide flexibility with series tap windings while separated through an auto-transformer.
• Also, three-phase units with tap windings connected through an auto-transformer are placed in a separate tank.
• Single-phase units include three configurations.
• All the transformers are loaded with OLTC (On-Load Tap Changers).

Benefits & Applications

•  The 3-phase system ensures durability and effectiveness.
•  Three-way availability for both three and single-phase units makes it beneficial for various applications.
•  Tap windings are seamlessly integrated and can optimize performance.
•  OLTC technology ensures smooth and easy operation.

Industry Applications

•  These transformers are ideal for feroalloy units and slab refining companies as they can supply huge power.
•  Metallurgical industries also have a broad application of these transformers for optimal performance.

Quality and Compliance

•   Certifications: IS/2026, IS/5553, IS/12977
•   Quality Assurance: We assure quality for all our products starting from the design to production to labor and quality people. Our transformers are quality-focused and dynamic toward ensuring excellent performance.

Support and Services

•   Installation Services: We have an Electrical Contractor License for Installation support.
•   Maintenance and Repair Services: Repair services are available only for our Own Manufactured Transformers.

FAQ

How does a submerged arc furnace work?

The pounding machine maintains the material surface while the feeding system is periodically fed into the furnace. To perform submerged arc operation, the electrode is placed inside the charge. As the current flows through the charge, resistance heat is produced, which melts the metal.

What is the duty cycle in submerged arc welding?

The power sources of this transformer are mainly engineered for high current and duty cycles. For example, it has 800-1600A and 44 Volt with a duty cycle of 100%.

Is the transformer AC or DC?

With some dropping characteristics, you can use sub-merged arc welding for both AC and DC.

Which type of flux is used in this transformer?

Fused flux and bonded flux are the two most used fluxes in Submerged arc welding. Apart from these two, there are also a few other types of fluxes. They offer both benefits and disadvantages.
